Leningrad Cowboys

The Leningrad Cowboys are far beyond time or fashion, therefore it is difficult to give you any precise biographical details. They say on themselves 'each member of the band is 18 years old and we all have the same mother'. It's like any document previous to 1977 disappeared in a great Vodka flood!, let's say that the current band has been so since that year. They come from Finland when their name comes from the old name given to the Russian city of Saint-Petersburg. Here are the members of the band: Varre (guitar), Vesa (guitar), Pemo (trumpet), Ana (saxophone), Mauri (keyboards and accordion) and the 3 chorus girls: Linda, Elina et Häkä..
They have done 8 records so far: 'We cum from Brooklyn', 'Live in Prowinzz', 'These Boots', 'Happy Together', 'Total Balalaika', 'Go space', 'Mongolian Barbeque'. Their music is eclectic, it goes from all rock and roll tunes to old popular Russian songs, they have a lot of fun but they are good musicians, the quality is there.
They have also played in 3 films in which you will find their universe where fun and sensibility are mixed: Leningrad Cowboys go America, Leningrad Cowboys meet moses and The Balalaika Show.
We like them a lot and we had the opportunity to see them live, if they are on tour next to you, do not hesitate to go and see them, or rent out one of their film on video, then discover their universe with their music.
